Expect the following outstanding features with either fence:

  • Strength and Durability. Steel by its very nature is much stronger than wood or vinyl and functions exceptionally well outdoors when properly treated and designed.

  • Long Lasting and Maintenance Free. The expected lifetime of a Buckley Fence is 25 to 50 years. The rails will not break, warp or sag. The protective powder coat finish is durable, water resistant, impact resistant and UV resistant. Say good bye to painting for good!

  • Horse Safe. Highly visible fence components with smooth, rounded surfaces and no protruding nails or screws. The rails “give” will cushion the horse upon impact and spring back to perfectly straight.

  • Cleverly Designed for Easy Installation. No nails, screws or hinges! The Steel Board Fence has pre-drilled posts lined with rubber grommets to protect the rails with internal lock spacers inside the posts. The Alumashield Fence connectors have a single set screw that securely holds the rails in place. The Steel Board and Alumashield Gates are hinge-less and rest on top of separate gate posts.

  • Eco-Friendly. Sustainable. 100% recyclable. A Buckley Fence will not end up as waste for the landfill!

At Buckley Fence, we will continue to raise the bar for quality, ingenuity, strength and durability. View our Product Line to see which fence system will work for you!

Few sentiments ring as true to a horse owner’s ears as the proverb, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." Horses are exceptionally creative at reaching the grass outside their enclosures. Any horse fence must withstand equine antics without endangering the animals it protects.

The best horse fencing is large enough to accommodate a horse's far-sighted vision. As a horse owner, you have a range of fencing options and several factors to weigh before making your investment.

We’ve helped horse owners with their concerns about the best horse fencing for years. Their most common questions have been:

Wood fencing has been corralling horses for centuries. Why shouldn’t I choose that?

Regular Maintenance - Wood fencing makes an eye-catching horse enclosure, if you have the time to maintain it properly and replace it every few years after its posts begin decaying below the ground. Keep the paintbrush handy for its aboveground posts and rails.

Fragility - A wooden fence is no match for a 1,000-pound horse determined to kick or stampede through it. Many horses see this type of horse fencing as a row of convenient scratching posts, stressing the wood and possibly picking up splinters.

Insect damage - Termites, powder post or longhorn beetles and carpenter ants all feed on wooden fencing.

Cribbing and Gnawing - Wood tastes delicious to horses. When they run out of food, many horses crib by grabbing wooden fencing in their upper teeth while gulping air. Others gnaw wood to relieve boredom.

A decay - and insect-resistant steel horse fence eliminates these problems without constant maintenance and painting.

What about safety?

Wood, vinyl and PVC fencing all shatter into hide-piercing shards. Broken wood also contains exposed nails. Any broken fence is an avenue of escape. Steel posts and boards may bend, but they won't break under pressure from a kicking or stampeding horse.

How about comparative costs?

Wood and PVC/vinyl fencing weigh in respectively at one-half and two-thirds the cost of steel. Minimal maintenance needs and extended longevity, however, make the steel horse fence a long-term money-saver. Expect it to contain your horses twice as long as PVC/vinyl and up to five times as long as wood.
