Wood fencing has been corralling horses for centuries. Why shouldn’t I choose that?


Regular Maintenance - Wood fencing makes an eye-catching horse enclosure, if you have the time to maintain it properly and replace it every few years after its posts begin decaying below the ground. Keep the paintbrush handy for its aboveground posts and rails.


Fragility - A wooden fence is no match for a 1,000-pound horse determined to kick or stampede through it. Many horses see this type of horse fencing as a row of convenient scratching posts, stressing the wood and possibly picking up splinters.
